Muslin is cotton woven in an open, loose weave. Those small gaps are what make it breathable and lightweight, so it doesn't trap heat against a baby the way tighter weaves can. It also dries fast after a wash, which matters when you're doing laundry every day. Every wash relaxes the weave a bit more, so muslin keeps getting softer over time. It creases easily too. That's just how the weave behaves, not a flaw.
We make Epic clothes from double-layer muslin cotton and pre-wash every piece before it ships, so it feels soft in your hands from the first wear instead of after months of washing. Seams are sewn flat rather than bulky, so there's less rubbing against a newborn's skin. We use child-safe dyes and skip harsh finishing treatments, keeping the fabric close to its natural state.
To keep it soft, wash cold on a gentle cycle and either tumble dry low or hang it up. Skip fabric softener and high heat, both work against the weave over time. Sizes run from newborn up to about 4 years, and we ship worldwide with tracked delivery. If something doesn't work out, unworn items can be returned within 30 days.
