For a hot-climate newborn, build a first wardrobe around double-layer muslin cotton: onesies for daily wear, a matching set for outings, a soft hat for sun and car rides, and pajamas for sleep. The open weave stays light against skin, dries fast after washing, and gets softer with every wash.

We started Epic because our own babies were born into hot, sticky weather, and most baby clothes felt too heavy for it. Everything here is double-layer muslin cotton, pre-washed so it's soft from the first wear, with flat seams and no harsh finishes. This guide covers the basics we'd pack for a newborn's first few months in the heat.

It layers well. On a cooler night, add a second piece or a light blanket. The fabric itself stays thin and breathable, which is the point in a hot climate.
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, then tumble dry low or hang to dry. Skip fabric softener and high heat. Some creasing is normal for this weave, not a sign anything's wrong.
